Wildcard Weekend Draft Kings DFS Picks

“Playoffs?! Don't talk about playoffs! Are you kidding me? Playoffs?!”. While Jim Mora may not have wanted to talk about the Playoffs back in 2001, that’s exactly what I’m going to do here. When it comes to DFS during the playoffs your roster construction will be different than it was during the regular season. Why? Well, for starters the slates are smaller so that means your player pool will be small, and you’re going to be eating quite a bit of chalk. That isn’t a bad thing though, you just need to play the right chalk. In this write up I’m going to target my favorite play at each position on Draft Kings for this weekend. Some players will be chalky, but others will also be low-owned.

QB

Josh Allen - $6,500:

I know that this will be Allen’s first Playoff appearance and a lot of people, myself included, are questioning if he’ll be able to handle the pressure. The Texans only generated 31 sacks this season which was the fourth-fewest in the league. Houston will get back  J.J. Watt this week, who hasn’t played since Week eight with a torn pectoral muscle, and that should help their pass rush. With all of that said, it’s not Allen’s rushing ability that has me excited about this matchup, but the fact that the Texans allow 281 passing yards per game and a touchdown rate of 5.67 percent. Buffalo is sixth in the league in big passing plays gained (pass completions of 20 or more yards), while the Texans are in the bottom ten in big passing plays allowed. With Allen’s big arm, he can really do some damage against this Texans defense that ranks 26th in pass defense DVOA.

Pivot Play = Drew Brees - $6,600

RB

Sony Michel - $4,600:

Over the last three weeks, Michel has been averaging 20 touches per game. That’s five more touches per game than he was averaging all season long. With Michel’s history of knee troubles, Belichick could have been saving his number one back for the end of the year to get him geared up for the playoffs. Last post-season, Michel averaged 24 touches per game. The Patriots are home favorites against the Titans and have an implied total of 24.5. Only twice this season have the Titans allowed less than 82 rushing yards in a game, and they have given up the fifth-most rushing touchdowns in the league. They are allowing four yards per rush attempt this year, and if the Patriots can maintain a lead on Saturday I expect them to lean heavily on Michel to seal the deal.

Pivot Play = Devin Singletary - $6,000

WR

Robert Davis - $3,200:

Robert Davis, who? Exactly. Nelson Agholor didn’t practice on Wednesday, and right now all signs are pointing towards him missing Sunday’s game. That leaves Greg Ward, J.J. Arcega-Whiteside, and Robert Davis as the Eagles three wide receivers. Not only is Davis cheap, but he should be matched up against the Seahawks Tre Flowers, who is allowing eight yards per target and over 700 receiving yards on the year. David could be that contrarian play that helps you end up in the green.

Pivot Play = Cole Beasley  - $5,600

TE

Dallas Goedert - $5,200:

Ertz was a limited participant in practice both Wednesday and Thursday, and now has a “decent chance” of playing this Sunday, according to John Clark of NBC Sports Philadelphia. Personally, I think it’s a long shot for him to play because he still hasn’t been cleared for contact. If he is able to play, he certainly won’t be close to 100 percent and that will mean more targets for Goedert. The Seahawks are allowing 69 receiving yards a game to tight ends this year to go along with six total touchdowns. Goedert has seen 50 fewer targets this year than Ertz, but he has only one less touchdown and five less red zone targets.

Pivot Play = Jared Cook - $4,900
