NFL Divisional Round Picks (Draft Kings)

Wild Card weekend did not disappoint, as we saw a few upsets last weekend. This week is where we get the best of the best, and I for one can’t wait for Saturday to come. In this week’s article, I’m going to share with you some of my favorite plays for the Divisional Round at each position, with some higher-priced players and others that will help you save a bit.

 QB

Patrick Mahomes - $7,500:

Now, I understand this isn’t a very contrarian play but I do feel it’s the best play at quarterback this weekend. The Chiefs have an implied total of 30.25 and have averaged 28 points per game this season. The Texans are allowing a completion percentage of 64 and a touchdown rate of 5.66 percent. Houston also ranks 26th in the league in pass defense DVOA. When these two teams faced off against each other in week six, Mahomes had 273 passing yards and three touchdowns.

RB

Aaron Jones - $7,400:

The Packers are home favorites against the Seahawks, and while I like Seattle to win this one I do think Jones will have a big impact. Seattle ranks 26th in run defense DVOA, and in six of their last seven games (last week’s game included), they have allowed at least 100 rushing yards. In weeks 13 through 16 (Jamaal Williams was out in Week 17), Jones out-touched Williams 75 to 38. Another reason why I love Jones this week is that he has seen more red-zone targets than any other running back left in these Playoffs, with 12.

WR

Sammy Watkins - $4,300:

Finally, someone that will save you some money! Some of you might be questioning why I’m writing about Sammy Watkins, but hear me out. Since Week 14 he has seen just six fewer targets than Tyreek Hill. He’s also running over 33 routes per game and is seeing almost 20 percent of the targets this year. When Watkins plays in the slot, he will most likely be facing off against Vernon Hargreaves who is allowing 10 yards per target, over 850 receiving yards, and a catch rate of 74 percent.

TE

Darren Fells - $3,500:

Apparently, I just can’t stay away from this Texans/Chiefs game. But, that’s ok because there should be plenty of fantasy goodness to go around in this one. Fells finished the season with seven receiving touchdowns which were good for third-best in the league, despite only seeing 48 targets. He should have a nice advantage over a Chiefs defense that allows 60 receiving yards per game to tight ends along with 16 schedule-adjusted PPR points.
